Ranking: 3 things to get your deposit back

2026-08-26 · Ranking: 3 things to get your deposit back Watch on YouTube

What I say in the video

Three things decide the deposit, and everyone gets the last one wrong.

Number one: the check-out report. Without a document signed on the day the keys are handed back, what starts is an argument of their word against yours.

Number two: the photographs from day one. If you only take them on the day you leave, they are useless, because there is nothing to compare them with.

And the one everyone gets wrong: "I won't pay the last month, you already have the deposit." Careful: it covers nothing, it is non-payment. In Catalonia the landlord does not hold the deposit; it is lodged with INCASÒL, the Catalan housing agency. The right way is to pay the last month, sign the key handover and ask for the deposit back.
