Just moved into a rented flat? Do not unpack yet.
Before you start living there, walk through the flat and photograph its condition: floors, doors, windows and, above all, any damage that was already there when you arrived. Take general shots and close-ups too. If there is an inventory, keep it together with the photographs.
Why? Because having the initial condition documented lets you compare it with the state of the flat when the tenancy ends.
It is five minutes that can save you a lot of headaches.
